CZ uses two different standards for its front sights. In this post we will go through the CZ 75 series front sight standard. Its not official name but we named it this way as it is used mostly for metal guns with construction based on CZ 75. We will also show which models use this very same standard for front sight installation.
Front sight standard explained
What does front sight standard mean? It is a cut in the slide allowing installation of front sight to the gun.
Based on the front sight standard you will be able to determine whether or not the front sight you are looking for will be also technically compatible with your CZ.
CZ front sights are not all the same – other than very few models – CZ uses two types of front sight standards:
- CZ 75 series front sight standard
- CZ P-series front sight standard
What is the difference? These two types differ in the way how they are fixated to the gun.
Fixation of the front sight
Front sights using the CZ 75 series front sight standard are fixated by a front sight pin that goes underneath the front sight.
The front sight pin goes through the slide and can be knocked out from each of the sides.
When you are replacing these front sights, it is needed to drill a hole on the bottom of the new front sight.
Once the hole is drilled through the front sight, you can knock the pin back to fixate the front sight in its position.
Compatibility
CZ uses the same front sight standard for many of its pistols.
Below you can find complete list of pistols using the same rear sight profile.
The fact that the gun is listed below however does not mean that the guns use the very same front sight. How so?
Each gun uses different rear sight and the front sight has to be matching the height of the rear sight in order to be functional.
Similarly, once you change the rear sight its very possible you will need to switch the front sight sight for different height.
However, the front sight mounting standard is the same for all the pistols listed below.
