Holosun 507K in detail

Holosun 507K is a very popular subcompact sized red dot models from Holosun production. In this article we provide you with all details about the optic, its compatibility, etc. It is not review as such, instead we put all valuable information into this post so that you can decide yourself whether this optic device will work for you or not.

Mounting compatibility

Compatibility of red dots is solve by a footprint.

What does footprint stand for? Well as any other footprint, in this case also footprint tells us what does the bottom of the red dot look like.

With that information we will understand what kind of mounting device we have to use in order to fit the red dot. I.e. what is the positoin of the pins and screw holes of the red dot so that we can mount it.

Why is it important? It is one thing to get the best red dot, but it can be another thing to be able to mount the red dot to the gun you want. Luckily, most of the manufacturers share 4 or 5 main types of footprints to accomodate its red dots.

Holosun 507K footprint

Holosun 507K footprint and Holosun 507K X2 footprint are the same as both share the same Holosun K-series footprint standard. Thanks to that you can install this red dot to any mounting device that uses the Holosun K-series footprint – whether red dot mount or red dot plate.

Holosun K-series footprint consists of two pins in the front that will slide into the sockets on the bottom of the red dot, and two screw holes in the middle of the device for fixation of the optics to the base by screws.

Screws for mounting of the red dot to the plate are always included in the red dot package.

Dimensions

Holosun 507K is subcompact size red dot. The dimensions of this optic device is even slightly smaller than Holosun EPS Carry. Weight remains the same with the EPS Carry: 1oz.

Compared to british subcompact red dot Shield RMS the weight is still quite high. Shield RMS holds 0.6 oz for very similarly sized red dot.

The dimensions of the red dot are following:

Length: 41mm / 1.6 in
Width: 25mm / 0.98 in
Height: 24mm / 0.95 in
Weight: 28g / 1 oz

Although the body size of the 507K is smaller than EPS Carry, for window size I cannot say the same. The window size is actually 100% the same size as for Holosun EPS Carry – despite the fact that the red dot is overall smaller.

The dimensions of the red dot window are similar to Holosun SCS MOS. The dimensions are following:

Width: 20mm / 0.77 in
Height: 15mm / 0.58 in

Holosun 507K seems from this perspective as 100% the same red dot as Holosun 407K. Although from the outside it is indeed identical device, there is a big difference. The difference between Holosun 507K and 407K is the red dot. Holosun 507K uses 2 MOA red dot and 32 MOA circle while Holosun 407K uses only 6 MOA dot.
